Though Lake Accotink is man-made, you wouldn’t realize it by gazing at the water’s expanse or the flora and fauna that surround it. Yelp reviewer Christian L. makes mention of the “tranquil nature paths,” that surround the Lake, where a hike offers respite from the monotony of day-to-day life. James L. acknowledges the greater NOVA park system, of which Lake Accotink is a particularly beautiful piece. 

As you wander the Lake and its surrounding park, you’ll come across plenty of families, groups of friends, and people walking their beloved pets. And, of course, there will be a few folks who’ve decided to visit solo, taking in a deep breath of nature and giving themselves time to unwind. Even Fairfax County itself invites you to Lake Accotink with an enticing phrase: “Experience solitude.”
