Get in the Halloween spirit during Alexandria’s Original Ghost & Graveyard Tour! During this tour, you’ll follow a Colonial-costumed guide by lantern light through Alexandria’s Old Town historic district. You’ll hear lots of ghost stories, unsolved mysteries, folklore, legends, tales of romance, and stories of angry ghosts looking for revenge.
Alexandria’s Ghost & Graveyard Tours were originally offered by Doorways to Old Virginia, but the Doorway owners Ed and Stella Michals retired and passed on the tour business to Wellington Watts, who was one of their company’s veteran tour guides. Watts carried on the long-standing ghost tour tradition by starting Alexandria Colonial Tours. Watts has a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in communications from Rowan University, and he has led a diverse range of tours and experiences in Old Town Alexandria since 2000, including ghost tours, family-focused tours, colonial tours, African American tours, and Civil War tours.
The walking tour covers about six blocks and lasts about one hour. While this fun and engaging ghost tour is most appropriate for children and adults ages 9 and up, all ages are certainly welcome, as long as any kids are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
